Ties is now open to the community

Ties is the European network for social connection, and LONELY-EU publishes it. After testing the platform with a group of users, we invited country contacts in all EU member states and associated countries. Moderators are confirmed for Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, and Spain.

Ties is now open to the community. Researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and others interested in social isolation and loneliness can request to join. A moderator approves each request.

We are still looking for organisations to moderate their country’s thread, especially in countries without a confirmed moderator. To volunteer, email hans@absl.io with the subject line “Ties moderation”.

Three features are already running. The events calendar collects social connection events from across Europe and posts the relevant ones to each country’s thread, in that country’s language. The Noticeboard lists funding calls, jobs, and datasets. Every Monday, the Social Health Digest rounds up new research, policy, and news, and members also get a weekly email summary.

Members can add an event to the calendar from the Events tab under LONELY-EU Resources, and a moderator reviews it before it goes live. If you are not on Ties yet, email the date, place, organiser, and a link to hans@absl.io with the subject line “Ties Events”.
