In episode 130 of Dentro l’Avvenire, the podcast of the Italian daily Avvenire, Costanza Oliva explores loneliness in cities. She speaks with Francesco Salonia, co-founder of the non-profit Better Together, and with Prof. Patrizia Catellani, director of PsyLab at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, one of the LONELY-EU partners.
The episode looks at why people can feel lonely while surrounded by others. Loneliness has less to do with how many people are around us than with the bonds we can build and keep, and with the places that make meeting possible. It also discusses how cities, communities, and collective spaces shape the way people relate to each other.
Original title: “Perché ci sentiamo tutti un po’ soli?”. In Italian. Released 27 August 2026. The episode goes with the Avvenire article in which Patrizia Catellani discusses LONELY-EU’s work in Italy.
