SUMMARY:Loneliness: A Challenge of Our Time
DESCRIPTION:Loneliness: A Challenge of Our Time and affects people of all ages and social backgrounds\, but with different characteristics and risk factors. \nWorldwide\, between 17% and 21% of young people (13-29 years old) report feeling lonely\, with higher levels among adolescents. \nIn Milan a conference will be held by our Lonely-EU partner Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. \n“Loneliness as a Social Challenge. From Scientific Research to Intervention Policies” will be held at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan on May 7\, 2026 (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM). \nThe event is organized by PsyLab – Psychology\, Law and Policy Lab\, a research center at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart\, in collaboration with @spsTREND\, a research center at the University of Milan\, as part of the European LONELY-EU project. \nA number of our project members will be there: Judith Merkies\, Cristiano Vezzoni\, Patrizia Catellani but also Stefano BENZONI and Massimo KOMATZ from our Evidence-to-Action (E2A) Board. \nIf you are in the area\, interested in Loneliness and have time this coming thursday\, use the link to sign up for the event. \nThe language of the event will be Italian\, as is the registration form you can find here : https://lnkd.in/eKGJnRsb

SUMMARY:Imagine if there was no solitude
DESCRIPTION:On Monday the 11th of May from 17.00-19.00 \, Itla\, organizes an event with the title “Kuvittele\, jos yksinäisyyttä ei olisi”. In English it translates to : “Imagine if loneliness didn’t exist”. The event takes place at Kuutio (2nd floor Oodi Helsinki Central Library). \nThe purpose of the Itla Children’s Foundation is to promote and support the wellbeing\, equality and position of children and families living in Finland and contribute to building a good future for them. \nLoneliness is not something that only impacts elderly people. Everyone could become lonely\, even young people. The Lonely-EU project is present at that meeting and during the event\, speakers like Niina Junttila\, Judith Merkies and others will talk about:\n– How does loneliness affect health and well-being?\n– How can we reduce loneliness and is there something we could learn from young people?\n– What if we lived in a world where loneliness does not define anyone’s everyday life? \nNiina is a member of our Evidence to Action Board (E2A) and Judith is our Policy expert. \nParticipation in the event does not require registration\, but by registering\, you will help them to estimate the number of participants.
