Our goal is to fight together against loneliness especially for refugees who do not have a family and need a first point to integrate. Therefore, we want to invite you to our weekly meeting. On 4 August 2016, Charity Foundation Caritas Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family organized a meeting for the network of non-governfmental organizations working in the field of homecare. The main topic of discussion was the development of costs for social services as part of the medical and social services at home – problems and difficulties in implementation. Galina Bujor, the representative of Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family assures us that MLSPF is open for cooperation, but it is a lengthy process, it required some changes in the existing framework. Participants were informed about the receiving funding mechanism for social services, which goes through several stages, including consultations with the Ministry of Finance. Although most older adults prefer to age in place, many move into independent senior communities for a variety of reasons, ranging from health to financial and social concerns. Research suggests that when individuals transition into senior housing, many find it difficult to establish new social connections and/or become integrated into the broader community. These barriers can result in a sense of being “left behind,” and can affect an older adult’s quality of life. But independent living environments vary widely, and are rarely regulated or standardized! Due to these factors, it is increasingly important for senior housing providers to offer residents a range of support services and to develop opportunities for residents to engage with and contribute to their communities.
